New York City: Ministry in the largest city of the US

ree

Servant Life partners with Urban Nations Outreach in New York City, an organization committed to ministering to refugees and immigrants. Our partner’s heartbeat is to see refugees and immigrants transformed by the truth of the gospel.

New York City is a large city made of the largest population in the U.S., 8.5 million people. The city is known for its diversity in which over 200 languages are spoken and a variety of religions and cultures are practiced. 57% of the population is Christian, 27% is religiously unaffiliated, and some are Muslim and Jewish.

The city is filled with exciting attractions like the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, and Central Park. There are a variety of opportunities to explore the city along with the intention of spreading the light of the gospel.

The mission of Urban Nations Outreach is to assist in meeting physical, social, and spiritual needs of unreached people groups in New York City with emphasis on South Asian, Central Asian, West African, and Middle Eastern immigrants. Our partner desires to see people of different backgrounds and cultures gathered together in the name of Jesus.

Short term teams who serve in New York City get to be a part of ministering to a diverse population to meet their spiritual and physical needs. There are opportunities in ESL classes, kid’s ministry, construction and repair projects, helping church plants, sports outreach, music outreach, neighborhood service projects, and street evangelism.

Teams will also get to participate in a guided tour of a house of worship of a different religion to learn more about the background of who they are ministering to.
