Trip Information

Servant Life partners with a local church to serve in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. They are a multicultural Baptist church plant serving north Edmonton with a heart to reach and disciple people from every background. A significant part of their ministry is among East and Central African immigrant and newcomer families, providing teams with the opportunity to serve in one of Canada's increasingly diverse communities. Teams will come alongside the local church through evangelism, children's and youth ministry, sports, community outreach, and practical service. They are passionate about using short-term teams to strengthen relationships and Gospel ministry that continue throughout the year. Servant Life is excited to partner with this local church as they share the hope of Christ throughout Edmonton.

What will my team be doing? 

​

Groups will focus on helping build relationships and engage families throughout the surrounding community. Depending on the needs of the church and the skills of your team, ministry could include children's day camps, sports camps, VBS, youth and family activities, neighborhood outreach, door-to-door surveying and church invitations, practical community service, and outreach among Edmonton's multicultural and newcomer communities. When available, teams may also have opportunities to participate in college or university outreach.
 

Evangelism will be an important part of the week, and our partners will help prepare teams to engage people and share the Gospel in Edmonton's unique cultural context. Teams will also worship alongside the church on Sunday and may participate through children's ministry, music, testimonies, prayer, or other areas of service.
 

Teams typically stay in a local hotel, with scheduled transportation provided throughout the ministry week. Meals are not included in the trip, so participants should plan to purchase meals throughout the week. Teams will also have some scheduled time to experience the city of Edmonton during their trip.
 

What does a general weekly schedule look like?​​

• Monday. Travel day. Arrive in Edmonton, get settled into the hotel, and participate in team orientation.

• Tuesday. Ministry preparation and local orientation. Meet church leaders, learn about the community, receive evangelism training, and prepare for the week's ministry.

• Wednesday - Friday. Ministry: Children's camps, sports camps, VBS, evangelism, neighborhood surveying, newcomer outreach, youth and family ministry, and community service.

• Saturday. Community outreach and service projects, with part of the day available to experience Edmonton.

• Sunday. Worship and participate in ministry as needed. The day may also include a community outreach or fellowship event and final team debrief.

• Monday. Travel day. Depart for home.

What does my cost include?​

​

• Housing. You will be staying in a hotel with two queen beds and approximately two participants sharing each room. Room assignments would be based on gender, age, and appropriate adult/minor safeguarding procedures.

• Supplemental Traveler's Medical Insurance. In the event of a medical emergency, you'll be covered with an international policy! *Interested in upgrading to a more comprehensive insurance plan that includes trip cancellation and interruption coverage? • T-Shirt. Every participant gets an awesome mission trip t-shirt.

• Pre-Trip Training Material. We provide training sessions, trip overview documents, assistance from our team of mission trip experts, and communication with in-country missionaries to make sure your group is fully prepared for your trip.

• Pre, During, and Post-trip Devotionals. This 4-week printed missions journal will help every team member grow and encounter Christ.

What's not included in my cost?

• Meals are not included in the base cost. Many teams do sack lunches on ministry days and a variety of things for dinner (ranging from pizza to fast food to sit-down restaurants to frozen meals). Our partner in Edmonton will be able to recommend some great local options. Most of our hotels would include breakfast.
   

Airfare is not included in the trip cost, but will be taken care of by Servant Life's travel agent who gets humanitarian rates and often free baggage. You may book on your own if you prefer to do so, but we ask to approve the itinerary first.
