Houston: Ministry to the Nations

ree

Servant Life partners with Glocal Mission in Houston, TX, an organization passionately committed to seeking the lost, discipling the saved, and multiplying disciple-makers and churches. Their mission is to equip, mobilize, and resource believers to engage in God’s work both locally and globally—glocally.

Houston is a diverse city of about 2.3 million people. Just over a third of the population is white, with the rest consisting of African American, Asian, Hispanic, and mixed-race communities. Christianity is the largest religious group in Houston, with around 67% identifying as Christian. About one-third of the population does not know Jesus; many in this group are religiously unaffiliated, Muslim, Buddhist, or Hindu.

Glocal Mission desires to see more people saved, empowered, and mobilized to reach others who are lost. Those who serve alongside Glocal Mission are challenged to grow in Christ and to be witnesses of the gospel to others. They believe in joining with others in fulfilling the Great Commission so no one has to serve alone.

Short-term teams who serve with Glocal Mission have a variety of opportunities to minister to the diverse population of Houston. Teams are partnered with one of the local churches in the area, many of which are international. Ministry opportunities may include apartment outreach, sports camps, street evangelism, and homeless ministry. Houston’s cultural diversity allows for ministry to the nations—right here in one of our U.S. cities.
