Costa Rica: Using Camp Ministry to reach Children and Families

Servant Life partners with La Montaña in Costa Rica who desires to see God’s Kingdom spread across Latin America.

Costa Rica is along the Isthmus of Panama as one of the countries that connects North and South America. It is a small country with around 5 million residents. Around 27% do not affiliate with a religion while the remainder of the population identify with Christian denominations. 

La Montaña exists to minister to Latin American children and families through their high impact adventure camp. They recognize that camping has the potential to have a profound impact on children, therefore they leverage their camp as a means to share Jesus with others. 

Our partner desires to empower Latin American youth and leaders in godly character and service through leadership and discipleship training. Not only do they build their campers in the gospel, but they do so with their teams who serve with them as well. La Montaña uses their high i

mpact activities and competition as a way to help youth draw nearer to Christ. 

When La Montaña sees a life transformed by the gospel, they make sure to connect them to a local church to ensure their relationship with Jesus is fostered year round. They love getting to work with the local church and value their relationships with local church bodies. 

Short term teams can serve alongside La Montaña in ways that help them run their camps and minister to the younger generation. There are many opportunities to help La Montaña’s campgrounds continue to develop and grow through helping with various manual labor projects around camp, and building relationships with campers.
