Teams will serve in the northeast part of England in either Sunderland, Doncaster, York or the Tees Valley region. Servant Life teams will be partnered with local churches and missionaries who are striving to reach the unbelieving and uncommitted, urging them to consider Christ, to grow and deepen in their faith, and to send them out to impact the world for Jesus Christ. We do this by working through schools, sports, community outreach and projects, and servant evangelism. Our team has had relationships with schools for more than fifteen years and has watched this partnership blossom in great ways. Some short-term teams will be involved school ministry, in which religious education lessons are taught and we have the opportunity to talk about Scripture and biblical principles. Most teams will be involved in sports ministry, which utilizes soccer or after-school recreation camps to reach young people and children. Regarding service projects, a few examples include trash pick-ups and general cleanups in the community, as well as window washing, bagging groceries, or any other needs that allow us to show the love of Christ.

The main goal for short-term mission trips is to partner with churches and local, ongoing ministries to help sow gospel seeds in a particular community.

What will my team be doing?

One of the most specific ways in which short term teams will serve is through camp ministry. Youth from the area will come to the park or other venue where the camp is held, play games, and then hear the gospel from local missionaries and your short-term team members. You will play a vital role in sharing Jesus with teenagers in NE England! You'll also be involved in servant evangelism as described above. At the end of your trip, you'll get to do some sightseeing and explore quaint little English towns such as York.

What does a general weekly schedule look like?

  • Friday. Depart from US.

  • Saturday. Travel day. Arrive and get settled in.

  • Sunday. Church services with partner. Potential ministry activities. Vision casting and orientation.

  • Monday - Thursday. Main ministry days. School ministry, after-school camps, service projects, or other opportunities.

  • Friday. Could be a ministry day or could be a tourism day to visit cathedral, historic cities, market, etc. Some teams may do this earlier in the week, like Sunday.

  • Saturday. Travel day. Depart for home. Arrive home same day.

  • (Note: For an extra cost, some teams like to take the train to London on Friday and spend Friday evening and all day Saturday sightseeing in London before flying out on Sunday. We can help accommodate this if your group wants to add this on to your trip!)

What does my cost include?

  • In-country transportation. Your transportation is taken care of during the week of ministry (though some walking is expected), but there could be an additional train ticket cost if you choose to fly into an airport a bit further away. Most of our teams will need to fly into Teesside International Airport in Durham if you are working closer to Middlesbrough; some teams may need to fly into Manchester if you are serving closer to Doncaster.

  • Housing. Your team will stay in hotels or a hostel type of setup that is safe and verified by our UK team!

  • Meals. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner, every day! (Note: You need to pay for your own meals at the airport, while traveling, etc.)

  • Supplemental Traveler's Insurance. In the event of a medical emergency, you'll be covered with an international policy!

  • T-Shirt. Every participant gets an awesome mission trip t-shirt.

  • Pre-Trip Training Material. We provide training sessions, trip overview documents, assistance from our team of mission trip experts, and communication with in-country missionaries to make sure your group is fully prepared for your trip.

  • Pre, During, and Post-trip Devotionals. This 4-week printed missions journal will help every team member grow and encounter Christ.

Airfare is not included in the trip cost, but will be taken care of by Servant Life's travel agent who gets humanitarian rates and often free baggage. You may book on your own if you prefer to do so, but we ask to approve the itinerary first.
