Through a partnership with Mission Sebenzela and Refilwe Community Project, Servant Life teams will share the hope of Christ with children from the slums of South Africa. A day camp program provides the opportunity to jump into the lives of these children and show them the Truth of God's love. As you teach a craft, share a Bible story, and lead a game of tag, you can watch hope spread from one life to the next.
Servant Life has partnered with Mission Sebenzela for the last 6 years to provide opportunities for Americans to serve in South Africa. Led by Steve Kinsley, Mission Sebenzela is a ministry in Johannesburg, South Africa with a heart to serve others and spread the Gospel of Christ. Much of their ministry consists of meeting the needs of the community around them, consisting of anything from providing for the physical needs of others to giving administrative support to local organizations, schools, and hospitals. One particular organization that Mission Sebenzela has worked with over the last few years is Refilwe Community Project.
Refilwe Community Project serves the impoverished district of Lanseria, just north of Johannesburg, through childcare programs and sustainable community development initiatives. In existence since 1991, Refilwe has grown from a small healthcare clinic to a 40+ acre facility housing a library, school, daycare center, HIV/AIDS training center, community garden and piggery, homes for abandoned children, and more. It is truly an outreach project to the people of Lanseria, all done under the banner of Christ.
Servant Life teams to South Africa are led by Steve Kinsley and serve at Refilwe by hosting a day camp for the Refilwe children, as well as children from the local slums.
